Potato, vegetables, noodles are now imposed for GST?

This morning when I was on my way to work, I heard a news from the radio station MY FM: GST on food items like potato, vegetables and noodles?

I love potatoes... In fact, this is one of the common food for the little one!

I understood that food items like seafood, potato, imported fruits (avocados, grapes, cherries and berries), vegetables (long beans, spinach, sweet corn) and noodles (kuey teow, buhun, laksa) will be charged GST starting from 1 July 2017.

Seafood will be charged GST? Oh dear... eating out will be expensive

This also indicates that higher spending on grocery expenses starting next month onwards. Oh dear, how are we surviving when the everyday expenses goes up, but not our salary?
