What can you do on a cruise? Genting Dream - Day 2 part I

Speaking about what can you do on a cruise, you can either do a lot or do nothing.

Let me first clarify on the misconceptions about cruising.

  1. It's believe that you will need to know how to swim in order to cruise - INCORRECT as the activities on board don't required any swimming skills (apart from water facilities such as the outdoor swimming pools), and the vessel is equipped with sufficient safety boats for emergency purposes, so worry less!
  2. Cruise is boring as you are kept within one area for a few days - INCORRECT as you will find out why from my post later!
  3. Cruise is not worth the money and it's too expensive - INCORRECT as you are required to a one-time payment to be able to access to 2 complementary dining choices at your convenience (as in 5 meals a day), unlimited usage of on board facilities according to operational hours, tip top entertainment shows and the feeling of getaway, why not?
So, let's talk about what do I do on Day 2. Day 2 was the only day we got to experience the ship as the day before was used for embarkation and the next day will be disembarkation. However, we had a full day itinerary waiting for us: Forum, Exploration, Gala dinner.

The day started of with a travel agent and media forum by Genting Cruise Line, held in the Zodiac Theater where all the major performances held. It's a huge hall and it can host up to 999 audiences at one go. The PA system was great and the digital screen as backdrop was stunning!

After the formality, we went to one of the pay-to-dine restaurant - Silk Road & Cabaret, for lunch. I personally thought the decor was awesome but it might not be suitable for the Malay market. Food wise, let's see what I had.

Seafood Treasure with Ginger, Apple Essence Lobster, Scallops Salad - I love this appetizer, definitely good for preparation of my palate as it's refreshing with an exquisite taste

White Truffle Consomme with Wild Mushrooms and Bamboo Piths

Braised Abalone with Black Mushroom and Vegetables

Taiwanese Three Cup Chicken with Sweet Basil, Ginger, Shallots and Shitake Mushroom - very fragrant dish
&
Fried Rice with Roasted Pork and Pickle Olive - love this too!

Sweet Eight Treasures Tea Chao Zhou Style

The second half of the day was fun, fun, fun! Stay tuned for my next post on what were the fun things I did =)
