Genting Dream - luxury cruise experience - Day 1

One of the portfolio I am taking care of is cruise. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure to go onboard for a familiarisation trip on the latest luxury cruise - Genting Dream.

This is the biggest ship I've been on thus far. It could accommodate to 3300+ travellers and it's position as luxury cruise.

Upon arriving the airport, we were being shuttled to fa yuen street area to have a walkabout. I personally think the air quality here is dryer than Malaysia as I've dry throat even though I've water with me. It was foggy too.

Went with the group to taste the Hong Kong Cha Chan Teng eateries. It's rather disappointed as I prefer the Malaysia French toast - it's dry and hard to even cut into smaller pieces 😐 The others ordered items like fried pork ribs with instant noodle too and it's too salty...

Talk about embarkation, Kai Tak terminal is a big cruise terminal with a lot of facilities. However, we waited for more than 3 hours prior to boarding the monster and it resulted in delayed dinner time, missed the show and safety drill exercise.

Speaking about dinner, we were being hosted in Bistro by Mark Best - one of the Michelin stars restaurant onboard. Not too sure if this is the first time that they are hosting more than 100 pax, serving time was too long and draggy. Food wise, I personally think there is room for improvement definitely.

Appetizer was good, but the main course is a bit blend. Dessert was not too bad too.

Petuna ocean trout, Brussels sprout, Caper and horseradish

Poached chicken with Asian mushroom

Rice & milk pudding

As we were having our main course, the ship began its journey sailing out to the high sea. The Hong Kong skyline was so beautiful as we stroll away from the terminal.

After dinner, I managed to sit in for a performance. The performers are tip top quality and I enjoyed the session. Got back to my cabin only at 12.30am and head straight to the bed as it's a long long day...
