How was your weekend? I hope you had an enjoyable yet relaxing one =)
My mother, brother and I decided to buy food for our sugar glinder as well as hoping to do minor shopping for bags and clothing for myself as I'm running out stuff to wear! We thought of going down to KL area to get some updates on the current trend or fashion or unique items and off we go!
We're lucky enough to get a parking spot on a Sunday afternoon (F.O.C) when we reached our first spot - Petalin Street. Mum is very familiar with the place as she used to work here when she is young. She brought both my brother and me walked through those small valleys and pathways and eventually it's just normal window shopping.
Then, mum was very keen in taking the Hop on Hop Off bus (she thinks it's free) and get the feel of becoming a tourist. However, I reminded her that Hop on Hop Off bus is chargeable (not sure the exact amount) and then brother was questioning, "why not use the GOKL bus?"
Mum and I were like, "huh?" Big question mark above our head and brother pointed at one of those Purple bus with the branding of GOKL bus. Brother convinced us that it's free of charge (feasible on the right corner of the bus with red background) and we hopped on to one of it and found out it's really FREE OF CHARGE!
Although I have not much experience in taking bus, but the interior of the bus looks the same as the normal bus. The bus is air conditioned and it has wi-fi too. Unfortunately, my phone couldn't seems to locate it la =.=
The passenger next to us was holding a brochure on GOKL buses. According to the information shared in the brochure, same as the name of the bus "GOKL", these buses offer FREE shuttle to the city of KL. It has two different color which indicates different parts of KL the bus will bring you to. Purple ones will bring you to area such as Pavilion, Bukit Bintang, Muzium Telekom while the Green ones will bring you somewhere around KLCC. For the precise route plan, you can search for GOKL and there is a website and facebook page on this.
There is digital updates on the buses arrival time near the bus stop and I must say, it's pretty accurate (unlike those in KTM station at least)! The updates also includes Rapid KL buses as well =)
I was impressed and thought the GOKL bus is a good initiative, at least for the tourists. Only thing I would suggest them to improve is the language displayed in the digital board, it's in Malay where arrive = tiba. How can tourist understand ler?
Apart from that, it's good for locals too where we get to exercise (walking distance from the mall and the bus stop) and it somehow saves the traffic and parking problem... Do look out for one when you are in KL!
